Avantron Technologies was a Canadian company specialized in CATV Test Equipment and Performance Monitoring systems. VeEX owns the rights to its intellectual property.
Avantron Technologies Inc. was a company from Montreal (Quebec, Canada), founded in 1989, that specialized in the design and manufacturing of CATV Test Equipment and Performance Monitoring systems. They were particularly known by their AT2000 family of CATV spectrum analyzers. Their portable AT2000RQ+ was a strong contender to (back then) the industry reference HP/Agilent 8591C Cable TV Analyzer, which continued to be the market reference even after Agilent Technologies took it out of the market.
Avantron was acquired by Sunrise Telecom, in January of 2001, to create its Broadband Division, in an effort to take the AT2000 family of spectrum analyzers to the next level and stablish itself as a key player in the CATV/HFC/DOCSIS monitoring business. It then introduced more powerful and feature-rich AT2500RQv portable and AT2500HM rack-mount spectrum and QAM analyzer versions, as well as an AT1600 line of monitoring switches.
In 2013 VeEX Inc. acquired the assets from Sunrise Telecom Inc. and continued supporting AT2500 and RealWORX® monitoring system customers. By then, the AT2500HQv was considered a de facto standard spectrum and QAM analyzer for CATV, and VeEX continued to improve it with the introduction of the AT2500RQvPlus. VeEX later introduced a brand-new modern version of the portable spectrum analyzers, the AT2500-3G, expanding its frequency range to 3GHz and adding more test and analysis capabilities related to modern HFC networks.
