What is Extended Spectrum DOCSIS or ESD?

Extended Spectrum DOCSIS (ESD) is an upgrade to the RF spectrum, for the HFC plant, to allow for more data bandwidth and even symmetrical services.

Extended Spectrum DOCSIS, often used along with High-Split and R-PHY/DAA, enables the coaxial plant to expand its spectral bandwidth up to 1.8 GHz (from the typical <1 GHz), allowing for more OFDM data channels and faster total data bandwidth availability for its subscribers.
