What Does CALAN Mean?

CALAN Inc. was one of the first companies to offer synchronized sweep systems for CATV and LAN. Its name is still associated with cable plant sweep. VeEX owns the rights to its intellectual property

CALAN® was one of the first companies to offer integrated synchronized frequency sweep systems and spectrum analyzer for CATV and LAN systems, hence their name. They were later acquired by Hewlett Packard, becoming a division of HP, then Agilent Technologies. The CALAN division was later acquired by Sunrise Telecom Inc., which its assets were then purchased by VeEX Inc. in 2013.

The CALAN brand name somehow kept its relevance through all those years and through multiple acquisitions. Besides offering good and successful products, it still has a very strong brand recognition. Even today, VeEX's modern CATV sweep system is still called the CaLan® 3010H+.
