How to use the MPA-HD On-Screen Display (OSD) to View and Edit IP Address settings

important  SCM-HD-410 On-Screen Display Info:

  • In addition using the USB thumb drive file, and the WebUI’s network settings screen, the MPA-HD’s IP Address can also be configured using the SCM-HD-410’s On-Screen Display and 5-way joystick.
  • The SCM-HD-410’s OLED screen, commonly referred to as the On-Screen Display or OSD for short, supports four modes of operation.
    • Boot Mode: The VeEX logo VeEX Logo is displayed while the MPA-HD is booting.
    • Screen Saver Mode: Every 10 seconds the OSD switches between displaying the IP Address and the Feature Set version, and every 60 seconds OSD switches between a black background with white text and a white background with black text.
    • View Only Mode: Users can scroll up and down through all of currently configured the IP Address settings.
    • Edit Mode: Users change the IP Address for DHCP mode, enter Static IP Address values, or Restore the IP Address to factory Default Settings.
  • The OSD’s 5-way joystick osd joystickcan be used to cycle through the IP Address settings, in either View Only mode or in Edit mode.
    • The OSD five-way joystick buttons are polled every quarter second, meaning a quick press and release (< 0.25s) might not be registered.
    • Short Press: For Short Presses, push the joystick button in for roughly 0.25 to 0.5 seconds to ensure the short press is registered.
    • Long Press: For Long Presses, push on the joystick button in for roughly 5 to 6 seconds to ensure the long press is registered.
    • To enter Edit mode, long press on the OSD joystick inward for 5 to 6 seconds.
    • When in Edit mode, there is a 2-minute timeout where if no joystick interaction has occurred for 2 minutes, then the display switches back to Screen Saver mode and any changes will reset back to their previously saved values.

How to view the MPA-HD IP Address settings:

  1. Make sure the MPA-HD system is fully booted, and the Ready LED is illuminated.

  2. Press the five-way OSD joystick upward or downward to cycle through the following menu options.
DHCP (NO) inv

Displays if DHCP mode is currently enabled (YES) or disabled (NO). 
IP Address (192.168.0.10) inv

Displays the currently configured IP Address. 
SubnetMask (255.255.255.0) inv

Displays the currently configured Subnet Mask.
DefaultGateway (192.168.0.1) inv

Displays the currently configured Default Gateway address.

How to edit the MPA-HD IP Address settings:

tip Long press on the OSD joystick inward for 5 to 6 seconds to enter Edit mode.
tip  Once in Edit mode, a long press inward initiates the following actions when used on the following screens:

  • Instantly jumps to the SAVE/REBOOT screen from any of the other editable screens.
  • Saves changes and automatically reboots the system when (YES) is selected on the SAVE/REBOOT screen.
  • Discards changes and exits Edit mode when (NO) is selected on the SAVE/REBOOT screen.
  • Restores the default IP settings and reboots when (YES) is selected on the DEFAULT SETTINGS screen.

For DHCP IP Address:

  1. When entering Edit mode, the first screen to appear will be the DHCP setting.
  2. Short press left on the joystick to select (YES).
  3. With (YES) selected, short press inward on the joystick to switch to the SAVE / REBOOT screen.
  4. On the SAVE/REBOOT screen, short press left on the joystick to select (YES).
  5. With (YES) selected, long press inward on the joystick for 5 to 6 seconds to Save the changes and automatically Reboot the MPA-HD.
  6. After the MPA reboots, verify an IP Address was automatically assigned from the DHCP server/router, and that you are able to connect to the MPA-HD using the new IP Address.

  1. When entering Edit mode, keep (NO) selected for the DHCP setting and short press inward on the joystick to switch to the IP ADDRESS screen.
  2. The first byte value of the IP Address will be blinking on/off, indicating changes will be made to that byte. 
    • Short press right or left on the joystick to select a different byte to edit.
    • Short press up or down to slowly increment or decrement the value.
    • Long press up or down to quickly increment or decrement the value. 
  3. Short press inward to advance to the next editable screen.
    • Repeat the short presses while in Edit mode to advance through all the editable screens, or long press inward the joystick for 5 to 6 seconds to jump to the SAVE/REBOOT screen.
    • With (NO) selected on the SAVE/REBOOT screen, long press the OSD joystick inward for 5 to 6 seconds to discard any changes and exit Edit mode.
    • With (NO) selected on the SAVE/REBOOT screen, short press the OSD joystick inward to advance to the DEFAULT SETTINGS screen.
    • When in Edit mode, there is a 2-minute timeout where if no joystick interaction has occurred for 2 minutes, then the display switches back to Screen Saver mode and any changes will reset back to their previously saved values.
  4. The following actions can be performed from the SAVE/REBOOT screen:
    • Short press left on the joystick to select (YES) on the SAVE/REBOOT screen, then long press the OSD joystick inward for 5 to 6 seconds to Save the changes and automatically Reboot the MPA-HD.
    • With (NO) selected on the SAVE/REBOOT screen, short press the OSD joystick inward to advance to the DEFAULT SETTINGS screen.
    • With (NO) selected on the SAVE/REBOOT screen, long press the OSD joystick inward for 5 to 6 seconds to discard any changes and exit Edit mode.

 

Restore IP Address to Default Settings:

  1. When entering Edit mode, keep (NO) selected for the DHCP setting and long press inward on the joystick for 5 to 6 seconds to jump to the SAVE / REBOOT screen.
  2. Keep (NO) selected on the SAVE/REBOOT screen, then short press inward on the joystick to switch to the DEFAULT SETTINGS screen.
  3. Short press left on the joystick to select (YES).
  4. With (YES) selected on the DEFAULT SETTINGS, long press inward on the joystick for 5 to 6 seconds to restore the default IP settings and Reboot the MPA-HD.
  5. After the MPA reboots, the following default IP settings will be configured:
       IP ADDRESS:                192.168.0.10
       DEFAULT GATEWAY:    192.168.0.1
       SUBNET MASK:             255.255.255.0
       PRIMARY DNS:             8.8.8.8
       SECONDARY DNS:         8.8.4.4
